How to Choose the Perfect Hair Color For You
Posted on January 05 2017
You’ve been dying to dye your hair -- pardon the pun -- but walking into a store and staring at an entire shelf full of vibrant colors can feel overwhelming. Where do you even start? After all, once you dye your hair, you can’t just change it if you don’t like it. In a previous blog, we talked about how to dye your hair, even if you have extensions. Our RC Pue, Proline, and HeavenlyLengths real hair extensions can all be dyed to the color of your choosing -- so how do you choose?
-
Consider your natural hair color. If you’re not ready to go bold, sticking to a color that’s a few shades away from your natural color will always be a safe bet. Plus, if you decide that you want to continue going lighter or darker from that shade, it will look better if you just slightly change the color each time you color your hair. If you have dark hair and try to jump to platinum blonde right away, don’t be surprised if it turns into an orange disaster.

Examine your skin’s undertones. The undertones are the underlying pigments in your skin that give it either a “cool” or “warm” appearance. Usually, people who are born with dark brown or black hair have warmer tones, while people who are born with blonde and light brown hair have cooler tones. If you’re not sure, think about what color clothes and makeup look best on you. Is your wardrobe full of blues, greens, and purples, or is it mostly reds, pinks, and oranges? Hair dye also comes in warm and cool tones that are independent of the level, or how dark the hair is.

Look into your eyes. Your eye color can also help you choose a hair color that is sure to look great. If your eyes are dark brown, blue, gray, or they have flecks of cool colors, you will probably look best with a cool hair color like ash blonde or blue-black. However, if you have hazel, green, or honey-brown eyes, or have brown flecks, you’ll probably look great in warm shades like auburn or strawberry blonde.
When in doubt, remember: it’s your hair, so do what you want! If you think candy-apple red is the perfect color for you, then go for it! No matter what color you choose, your Remy hair extensions will blend beautifully with the rest of your hair, and you’ll be ready to take on the world.
