What textures are naturally occurring in Indian women?
There are a few basic hair types naturally occur in Indian woman: straight, bodywave, natural wavy and natural curly. All other textures offered on the market today, including various types of curly hair are not naturally occurring and have been achieved through the use of chemicals and other processes that can damage and weaken the hair.
Where does Indian hair came from?
There are two major, ethical sources of Indian hair: Hindu Temples and brushed hair. Unfortunately, there are many unethical sources of hair including women forced by their husbands to sell their hair to dealers and women who have their hair taken while they sleep and by violent "gangs". In India, it is a very common tradition for people to donate their hair at Hindu temples as a show of sacrifice to various Hindu Gods. The devotee travels to the temple where their hair is removed through tonsure. The temple authorities collect the hair and periodically auction off the hair. The proceeds from the temple auctions are gradually pumped back into the community by the temple authorities in various charitable forms.
What is Virgin Hair?
Virgin hair is totally unprocessed hair that has not been exposed to any chemicals or beauty treatments commonly found in the Western world.
What is Remy hair?
Remy hair is the highest grade human hair available. The hair is cut and maintained in one direction from root to ends, thus containing no inverted cuticles. This is EXTRMELY important because inverted cuticles cause the hair to matte and tangle. All Remy Chic hair is Remy human hair.
What is single-drawn hair?
A single drawn bushel of hair has been cut as a pony tail, contains naturally occurring different lengths of hair, and can be very thick and tapered at the ends. For example, a single drawn bundle of 16 to 19 inches contains hair that is 16, 17, 18 and 19 inches long along some other “shorter” pieces
What is double-drawn hair?
The hair has had the shorter hairs drawn out providing a fuller, more even look, but generally need to be styled to achieve a more natural look. For example, a bundle of hair 20 inches long contains hair lengths of 20 inches only. Most advertised double-drawn extensions on the market have been achieved through sloppy processes such as "back-brushing" and can lead to the presence of inverted cuticles. Properly double-drawn hair must be done so carefully and by hand. RC extensions take the best of both worlds, by removing the shortest of hairs while leaving some naturally occurring shorter hairs to preserve a more natural look.
How Much Hair Do I need?
All of our wefted extensions contain 3.5-oz (100 gram) of hair, while our Remy Chic Clip-in Extensions come in a variety of weights. For our wefted hair we recommend 2 bundles if choosing a length of 10” to 20”, and 2.5 to 3 bundles if choosing a length of 22”+. However, depending on the thickness of your hair and the look you are trying to achieve, the purchase of fewer packages may be sufficient. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us prior to placing your order.
Can I color RC Extensions?
The Remy Chic Luxury Collection can be colored multiple times throughout their life span as all of the hair is 100% Virgin Remy Indian Human hair that has not been processed in any way. Our Salon Collection can be colored as well but it is suggested that it only be colored once during its life span.
What type of hair care products should I use?
Although we recommend the use of professional hair care products such as Redken™ and Matrix™, it is not required. As long as you treat your Remy Chic extensions like your own hair and use good quality shampoo and conditioning products, your extensions will continue to look as good as the day you bought them for up to 6-12+ depending on which Collection they are from.
Can I go swimming?
You may wear any of our extensions in swimming pools, hot tubs and the ocean but it is best to wash the hair immediately following your swim as you would with your own hair. Avoid getting hair in salt water if you have braided your hair. The exposure to salt water may slighter alter the texture of your hair but can be revitalized by washing, conditioning and drying your hair to the desired curl pattern.
How long does it last?
Our Luxury Collection extensions last 3+ years while our Salon Collection lasts 6+ months. To achieve the longest possible life for your extensions we suggest you take care of them as you would your own hair. However, many times the installation will have to be redone as often as every month.
