From Hair to Hair Extensions
What many don’t know is we were one of the first and few manufacturers in our industry, and the only one to spend the time and capital to establish facilities in the U.S., China AND India. It was all done for the sake of improving quality and consistency in that quality. The production of hair extensions that afford the end user the same level of consistency they see when they purchase other beauty and non-beauty products involves many proprietary steps. From the way we procure our raw material to the complicated way in which we manufacture.
Our Story
Unfortunately, not all of the resources (both in raw material and skilled labor) are located in one place, so we went where we had to and built what we needed. Not just so it would allow us to manufacture what we want but so we could do so while providing an unparalleled safe work environment up to OSHA standards for our employees.
Partnering with a small trading company to abide by Chinese law (when we started wholly own subsidiaries were not allowed in our vertical) we built what today is one of the leading factories of high end extensions in China. Before us, there were few if any, and none focused on the ethnic market. The time and attention spent to setting up the factory, implementing an employee friendly environment and ensuring we were friendly to the environment were ground breaking in our industry. From ventilation systems to water treatment, recycling and purification. We are second to none.
Our Commitment to Ethics
WE ARE COMMITTED to ethical sourcing & manufacturing of our hair. Unlike many companies that have no active involvement with the sourcing or manufacturing of their hair and instead simply purchase finished products from third parties, we employ our own procurement team, giving us more control over the quality and sourcing of our hair, and have controlled our manufacturing. By controlling the sourcing of the raw material for our products, and the manufacturing of those products, we have an unmatched control over our supply chain and the products it produces. This is why we are able to offer THE ONLY warranty in the industry. Our reputation for properly sourcing & manufacturing the best Remy Human hair extensions on the market coupled with our professional business operations, leads us to be frequently asked by other manufacturers and sales companies to act as either the supplier for their bulk hair needs or the manufacturer for their finished product needs.
Step 1
Sourcing
The hair begins its journey into our extensions at one of more than a dozen Indian Temples, most notably the famous Tirumala Venkateswara Temple (known for its ethical use of funds raised in its hair auction for the betterment of the surrounding community). The hair is hand selected by our own procurement team and then transported to our sorting and washing facilities.
Step 2
Sorting, Washing & Sanitizing
After arriving at our sorting and washing facilities as much as 25% or more of the hair is still, upon closer inspection, deemed "unfit" for RC Extensions and re-sold into the market for those with lower standards. The hair kept for RC products is then inspected for any knits, inverted cuticles, henna and other foreign substances that could impact the integrity of our extensions and their versatility. The hair is then gently washed, sanitized and conditioned and then sorted into bulk hair for sale or to ready it for manufacturing into RC products.
Step 3
Manufacturing
Upon arriving at our manufacturing facilities the hair goes thru further sorting into either our Luxury Collection or Salon Collection and is then gently manufactured in on of over 150 different products.
Our coloring process takes more than 15 days and avoids the use of harsh chemicals while our texture adding processes avoids the use of high-heat, ensuring a healthy cuticle remains after either process.
Step 4
Final Inspections
Following the manufacturing process, all of our extensions are once again inspected by hand at a separate facility to ensure no impurities exist in the hair, nor defects in the craftmanship. After passing this second inspection the hair is wrapped in a protective tissue paper, placed in our velvet products bags and then placed into our display box the same day the extensions are shipped to our customers. This process ensures that the extensions are left to breath up until the day they are shipped to the customer.
This is a very detailed and time-consuming process because every little detail makes a difference between average hair extensions and RC's Extensions. It is this rigorous inspection process that ensures the quality of the product you see does not change, month after month, year after year.
