What is Remy?

While this question may seem obvious to many, we have found
that the definitions of this word vary greatly depending on who you ask. Some believe that the word “Remy” is
the name of a company, and not a type of hair. Others believe that Remy refers to the “quality of the hair”
and that “good” quality hair is thus referred to as “Remy” hair.
If you search for the definition of the word “Remy” you will
find the definition to be “a type of Commune”, which obviously does not help
us. So I then searched for the
definitions of the phrase “Remy Hair” which you might imagine put me somewhat
back to the beginning, because everyone has a different definition of what
“Remy Hair” means. Many of the
definitions were not very technical and most were along the lines of “the
highest quality hair available”.
Again, not a very scientific or exact definition, because who determines
what is and is not high quality hair.
Some will argue that Remy means hair that has all of its cuticles intact and running from roots to ends. Others argue that the cuticles don’t
have to be intact, that processed hair can still be considered
“Remy” and that if you require the cuticles be intact,
then you are looking not just for “Remy” hair, but “Virgin Remy” hair.
Suffice it to say, with all of the definitions being thrown
around its probably more important to ask how your extensions were made, the condition
of the cuticles and whether they run roots to ends rather than just looking for
the catch phrases “Remy” or “Virgin”.
What is important is not what your stylist or hair extension supplier
calls their hair, but how they made those extensions. Regardless of what it is called, if the hair in your
extensions runs from roots to ends and has a healthy cuticle that was not
processed, you are buying some of the best hair available. However, if the hair doesn’t run from roots to ends,
or has had its cuticles damaged or removed through the manufacturing process,
then regardless of what it is called, you are not buying very good hair
extensions.
