How We Live Up to the Remy Name
Posted on March 01 2016
When you want hair extensions, you do your research like
most consumers.Clearly, you’ve already
decided that Remy hair extensions,
made only from real human hair and renowned for their luxurious softness and
durability, are your best bet. However, it can be hard to sort genuine Remy
hair from imitations. Last month, we published a guide
to warning signs that so-called “Remy” extensions are not what they claim
to be. Today, we’ll go in-depth about our sourcing, manufacturing and packaging
process, proving why we always live up to the promise of quality inherent to
the Remy name.
Ethical Sourcing
All of our human hair extensions are gathered from among a dozen religious
temples in India. At these temples, the faithful regularly participate in a
religious ritual that requires the voluntary shaving of their heads. For the
purpose of this ceremony, it is required that donors never alter their hair in
any way, including cutting, heat-styling, dyeing or otherwise damaging it. This
ensures that all of the hair that we source is 100% virgin and as strong and
durable as possible. Additionally, all of our customers can rest assured that
the product they purchase is ethically sourced. Not only is our sourcing
completely transparent, but the money raised by temples from purchases of donor
hair also go back to the surrounding communities.
Rigorous Selection
Typically, about 50% of the raw material that we source from Indian temples is
removed during the initial stages of our manufacturing process. Our Remy
extensions are distinctive for monodirectional cuticles, strength, durability
and a deep, rich, natural color. This consistent high quality comes from our
careful selection process, during which we remove and discard any hair that is
weak, thin, split, too short, dull, discolored or otherwise unsuitable for
inclusion in our real hair extensions.
Gentle Treatment
Throughout the rest of the manufacturing process, our Remy hair is handled with
kid gloves, so to speak. We gently wash and condition the hair so that it is
soft and smooth, and retains its natural sheen. Since we offer hair in relaxed,
wavy and curly textures, some styling is required, meaning that hair destined
for texturization is gently processed, without the use of harsh chemicals. This
process can take up to two weeks to ensure that minimal alteration occurs in
the structure of the hair.
Luxury Packaging
Finally, once our extensions are assembled and inspected one last time for
quality, they are packaged in soft velvet bags for protection. You complete the
luxury experience of Remy extensions by wearing them.
